San Fran Trip

We left Burbank later than we were supposed to and ended up not being able to go to the Animation Mentor BBQ. We got to our hotel off of Market Street at 4:30pm. The Golden Gate Park which was north of us.

On the way up we almost ran out of gas... but a 76 gas station popped up out of nowhere!!! =)

Golden Gate Park... can't see it yet but Alcatraz was in the background

It was smaller than what we envisioned.

This thing has been through alot!! Cross Country... Venice... Hollywood... LA..San Fran... I love you Jeepster!! You're a TROOPER!! =)

When we first got to the street our hotel was on we didn't know where to park. We finally found a public parking deck 2 blocks down but didn't realize it was FREE valet so we drove up 8 floors to the top where we gave over the jeep.

We drove over the Golden Gate Bridge. It costs $5 to enter San Francisco from it.

Saturday night was a chill night. We had the GREATEST pizza in the WORLD at "Blondie's Pizza" on Powell Street near our hotel.

Our intentions for this whole trip was to get to the Animation Mentor BBQ but after a stressful week and traffic we managed not to even make it =(

We weren't even aware of the Gay Pride Parade on Sunday. And believe it or not I picked the hotel that was on Market Street... the epic center of it all. We woke up at 9am to the sounds of music and people talking on microphones. We got dressed and walked outside to reveal thousands of people with rainbow flags and feathers walking around!

At first it their were more non-Gays than Gays.... until the parade started. Being straight it was very uncomfortable walking around in this. But we decided to get Rainbow flags and scream for the Gays... it was a means of SURVIVAL and not GETTING BEAT UP.

Dee screaming for the Gays. The funny thing is that we walked about 9 blocks down to the start of the parade and then decided to get the flags. Then we had to walk all the way back to our hotel to check out when the parade had been going on for about 15 minutes.

We walked with the flags and were surprised and uncomfortable when we discovered people were TAKING OUR PICTURES!!! So, we walked swiftly and laughed back to our hotel.

I will definately remember this trip for a LONG time.

There was this nude guy walking around smiling at everyone. It was definately an awkward/uncomfortable area.

I look sooooo uncomfortable! But we maintained our STRAIGHT ZONE even though everyone was staring and taking pictures. The trick was not to look anyone in the eyes! ;)

Right outside of our hotel was protesters surrounded by SF Police.

We left at noon while the parade was starting to get into full motion. It took us 30 minutes to get out of the city and find the Bay Bridge since the main routes were closed off.

Here's the Bay Bridge

We went across the Bay Bridge over to Emeryville and found PIXAR. We didn't get any pictures of it... it was already 1pm and we still hadn't started our 5 1/2 hour trek home yet. Then we tried to find Animation Mentor HQ but got lost and decided to head home.

We finally made it back to Burbank after a fun, interesting, unexpected weekend!

I'm surprised we didn't kill each other!
